NIAHD Refund Policy
If a student withdraws from the program, the National Institute of American History & Democracy may provide a partial refund. The amount of a refund is based on the date NIAHD receives notice of a student's withdrawal. Refunds may be granted under the following guidelines:
April Withdrawal
If a student withdraws before May 1, NIAHD will refund the total program payment, minus the $400 non-refundable deposit.
May Withdrawal
If a student withdraws on/after May 1 and before June 1, NIAHD will refund one-half the total program payment, minus the $400 non-refundable deposit.
June / July Withdrawal
If a student withdraws on/after June 1 and before the First Day of the student’s summer program session, NIAHD will refund one-fourth of the total program payment, minus the $400 non-refundable deposit.
Withdrawal After the Start of the Program
If a student withdraws on/after the First Day of the student's summer program session, NIAHD will not make a refund.
Definitions and Deadlines
Deposit: A $400 non-refundable deposit is required of all accepted students to secure their place in the NIAHD Pre-College Program. The deposit is due within 2 weeks of a student receiving their acceptance letter email.
International Student Fee: A $300 administrative fee is required of all International Students to cover expenses including immigration paperwork and shuttle fees for transportation to/from Richmond International Airport, Newport News Airport, and Williamsburg's Amtrak Train Station.
US Citizens, US Dual Citizens, and US Permanent Residents, whether residing inside or outside the United States and associated territories, do not pay the International Student Fee.
Total Program Payment: The Total Program Payment is the total cost to attend the NIAHD Pre-College Program, which includes the $400 non-refundable deposit.
Deadlines: The deadline for remitting a student’s total program payment is determined at the time of acceptance and can be found in the acceptance letter.
