Teaching Assistantships

Why not become a Teaching Assistant in French & Francophone Studies?

Are you passionate about the French language and Francophone cultures? Do you want to share this passion? Do you want to learn about foreign language pedagogy? Are you considering teaching after graduation? Would you like to add a teaching experience to your resume?

Our Teaching Assistants are students who have already taken French 305 and received a final grade of A: they therefore have a strong mastery of the French language. TAs work closely with the French Language Coordinator, Prof. A. Leruth, and they lead the Friday review and practice sessions of our elementary- and intermediate-level language classes (FREN 101 - FREN 202).

During the Fall semester, TAs register for two courses:

1) MDLL 401 (1 credit), a course on foreign language pedagogy.

2) FREN 412 (1 credit), a mentored internship experience where TAs work closely with Prof. A. Leruth. FREN 412 counts toward a major or minor in French & Francophone Studies for a maximum of 2 credits.

In the Spring semester, TAs only enroll in FREN 412.

How to apply:

If you would like to be considered as a candidate for a Teaching Assistantship in French & Francophone Studies, please submit an application form to Prof. A. Leruth before our annual deadline of March 15th.
