Moeno Hashiguchi earned her M.A. in Japanese Language Teaching (Professional) from the Graduate School of Akita International University, Japan. During her graduate studies, she gained extensive teaching experience in both in-person and online settings, teaching a diverse range of learners from around 20 countries, including undergraduate and graduate students, foreign residents, technical interns, and tourists. After graduation, she joined the College of William & Mary as an International Fellow, where she contributes to classroom instruction and supports a vibrant living-learning community. She is passionate about bringing Japanese language and culture closer to students.

Moeno’s teaching philosophy centers on fostering learner autonomy and connecting classroom study with real-world language use. She values individual advising as a way to help students clarify their goals, build confidence, and develop sustainable study habits by encouraging them to experience Japanese as a natural part of their daily lives, enabling them to continue learning beyond the classroom.

She is also involved in the collaborative social media project on Instagram (@autono_coach), a platform that provides Japanese language learning resources tailored for autonomous learners. Her academic interests include learner autonomy, learner motivation, and language coaching.
