Student Employment

Chemistry regularly employs undergraduate students to assist in teaching laboratories and with summer research. Students assist with laboratories, coursework grading and book keeping. Assistantships are good preparation for post-baccalaureate employment or graduate studies.

We recruit from the majors' email contact list and by posting information and applications outside the Laboratory Supervisor's office at ISC 1037.

Majors, in good standing, also have the opportunity to become tutors for area students. At the beginning of each semester, the Chemistry Office creates a list of volunteer junior or senior chemistry majors who are willing to tutor for local high school, community college or W&M students. As a tutor, you schedule the tutoring times and negotiate your pay with the students and/or their family directly.
