What to Expect

What type of readings are involved in first-and-second-year courses? (e.g. articles, textbook) How much reading should a student expect to do per week?

As an interdisciplinary major, CAMS requires 100-200 level courses in 2-3 different departments. All students should take a calculus sequence MATH 111/131, 112/132, 212/213 and linear algebra MATH 211, the introductory sequence CSCI 141, 241 in Computer Science, and either introductory biology BIOL 203, 204 or possibly introductory economics ECON 101, 102 depending on intended CAMS track. Students are encouraged to visit the appropriate departments to set expectations for these courses.

Is there anything else that is important for first-and-second-year students to know and/or expect from their courses?

Students are encouraged to talk to CAMS faculty if there is any confusion about how to get started on a CAMS major.
