These grants support the artistic growth of talented students in the creative and performing arts through off-campus educational experiences, either at a formal educational institution or through structured practical hands-on exposure, in the United States or abroad for a summer. We encourage Catron grant recipients to enhance their talents through academic or studio classes, structured hands-on experiences, or a combination of the two. Although the number of awards and funding amounts vary, the maximum awarded is $5,000.

Currently enrolled undergraduate students presenting research at a conference in their field OR traveling in support of completing a research project may request Research in Motion funding. The actual amount disbursed is subject to the number of applicants and available funding. Applications are now open year-round and will be reviewed at least monthly on a rolling basis until all available funding is expended for the fiscal year.

Undergraduate Research Dissemination Grants

Students can apply for two new grants to disseminate faculty-mentored research! The Undergraduate Research Publication Grant covers publication costs for W&M undergraduate students who are first authors on a peer-reviewed research publication (journal article, book chapter, etc) based on their own original research idea OR supports a new or existing student-led journal, website, or print/digital publication. The Creative Research Dissemination Grant funds sharing of student research results through creative avenues, including but not limited to exhibitions or artistic productions, websites or podcasts, and community events. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until funding is expended, and the deadline to apply is April 1, 2027.
