For Joint Degree Programme Students

Congratulations on your decision to join us at William & Mary!

Whether you are a Home or Host Student, we encourage you to explore all that lies ahead as a new student joining our community. Who comes here belongs here.

As a student in the William & Mary St Andrews Joint Degree Programme (JDP or Programme), you will split your undergraduate experience between William & Mary in Virginia, U.S.A. and the University of St Andrews in Scotland, U.K.

Your HOME university is the one to which you applied and where you complete your first year.
Your HOST university is where you spend your second year.

As part of Programme requirements, all students must spend their second year at their host institution.

You have the choice to spend your third year at either institution. This will determine where you graduate. Your fourth year must be completed at the opposite institution from where you spent your third year.

Orientation for JDP Students *New* to W&M

Orientation, an enrollment requirement, occurs immediately prior to the fall semester to introduce all students new to William and Mary about the many aspects of student life, academic policies, and the honor code. The goal of each orientation program is to make our students feel right at home from the moment they set foot on campus, whether it’s their first time or if they’re joining us from across the pond / St Andrews.
