Tribe Guide

Welcome new fall semester students!

The Tribe Guide is your one-stop online source for information about what you need to do before you arrive in Williamsburg for your first semester. From advising and registration to housing and meal plans, the Tribe Guide Checklist is here to help you make a smooth transition to college life.

New Students Arriving Fall 2024

Congratulations on your decision to join us at William & Mary! Information regarding your transition into the university will be available beginning May 1, 2024 at 12 Noon Eastern. Until then, make a note that new students will move into their residence hall assignments and begin your required New Student Orientation on Friday, August 23, the Friday preceding the first day of fall classes (Wednesday, August 28, 2024).

Grounding Statements

As a community grounded in seven Core Values, William & Mary respects our region's complex history and the university's place in that narrative. Take a few moments to read and consider our Land Acknowledgement and Statement on Slavery and its Legacies before you even begin your Tribe Guide Checklist.

Get Started!

Have you activated your account? Upon admission, you will want to activate your W&M Username. You will need to create a secure, personalized password. You will also need to enroll a secondary device (like a cell phone) in Duo Two-Factor Authentication to access most W&M systems.

Email

After you pay your enrollment deposit (allow 2-3 business days for processing), you will be able to access your Outlook email account (powered by Microsoft 365) via the Outlook icon on myW&M. The standard format for student email addresses is wmusername@wm.edu. Make sure to check it frequently for important updates.

Laptop Information

We require all incoming students to own a notebook computer. A laptop makes it easier for you to stay connected with classmates, professors and administrators - no matter where you might be on campus. Make sure your device meets the minimum requirements.

Student Tribe Card

This is your official form of university identification. It serves as your meal plan card, library card, and facility access card to residence halls, recreational facilities, the Student Health Center, some academic buildings, campus bus transportation, as well as access to athletic events.

myW&M

You'll also use myW&M to access a variety of core services such as financial aid awards, class registration and your Outlook email. Go ahead and visit myW&M to take a look around.

New Student Orientation

Wondering what Orientation is going to be like? A look at last fall's schedule will be available when the Tribe Guide goes live on May 1.
