Health Insurance
Due to the high cost of health care in the U.S., every student and scholar is required to have a health insurance plan that is approved by William & Mary.
Student Health Insurance
Due to the extremely high cost of health care in the United States and the importance of adequate health insurance coverage, William & Mary requires all students to have adequate health insurance coverage as a condition of enrollment. All international students must be enrolled in the W&M sponsored student health insurance plan or request a waiver by confirming they have a qualified health insurance policy.
Insurance is not required for family members in F-2 status, however, we highly recommend that all family members have insurance coverage.
Scholar Health Insurance
Federal law requires that all persons in J-1 and J-2 status maintain adequate health insurance for the duration of their stay in the United States. Given the high cost of medical care in the U.S., it is advisable that all persons purchase health insurance coverage for themselves and their dependents, regardless of immigration status.
