Summer Alumni Venture Internships
Looking for something more structured and high-impact?
Each summer, the Hub offers a small, selective internship program that connects William & Mary students directly with alumni-led ventures. These aren’t traditional internships. Each role is built around a clearly defined venture priority, so students are contributing to real work that moves the venture forward.
The Hub serves as the employer of record and provides structure and support, while alumni founders provide the day-to-day context and collaboration.
- Work on a specific, milestone-driven project
- Collaborate directly with alumni founders
- Contribute to real venture progress
How to get involved:
Submit a Talent Application to be considered for these and other opportunities. You can also find Hub-supported roles posted through TribeCareers and Handshake.
Program Expectations
To ensure a high-quality, mutually beneficial experience, the Hub outlines clear expectations for both ventures and student participants in our Internship & Externship Program.
For Ventures:
- Goal-Setting Meeting: Prior to the start of the experience, we’ll facilitate a brief alignment session to define project objectives, key deliverables, and the ideal learning environment for the student.
- Midpoint Check-In: For internships exceeding six weeks, a check-in is encouraged to ensure goals are on track and to adjust scope or support as needed.
- Exit Interview: At the close of the experience, we’ll gather feedback on intern performance, project outcomes, and opportunities to iterate and improve future matches.
For Students:
- Orientation Meeting: Students are expected to engage in a kickoff session with their venture mentor to establish expectations, timelines, and communication practices.
- Progress Check-In: Students should come prepared to reflect on their experience, raise questions, and realign priorities mid-project if needed.
- Exit Interview: All students will complete a short debrief to reflect on their learning, contribute feedback to the venture and the Hub, and help shape future opportunities for peers.
