Ombuds Office The W&M Ombuds Office serves as an alternate and informal resource for all categories of employees seeking assistance with workplace concerns. In the case of instructional faculty operating in administrative roles, the Ombuds can provide the same resources and options available to other employee categories. Staff members are welcome to come and talk in confidence about any concerns, no matter how big or small.
100 Years of Women Anniversary In the fall of 1918, 24 women were admitted as undergraduate students at William & Mary, making W&M the first public coeducational university in Virginia. During 2018-19, we celebrated the accomplishments of the 55,000+ alumnae, and the many women students, faculty and staff of William & Mary.
Operations, University The Chief Operating Officer oversees University Operations, which support the day-to-day management of services required to meet the university’s mission. The COO partners with senior leaders to shepherd the use of the university’s human, financial, physical and technological resources.
Orientation, New Student Orientation occurs immediately before the fall (August) and spring (January) semesters to introduce new students to many aspects of the university including student life, academic policies and the honor code. The goal of each orientation program is to make our students feel right at home from the moment they set foot on campus.
