At W&M, we have two concentrations for physics majors:
Both concentrations provide for some customization of the degree through a variety of electives, and require that students be active in original research. All majors will conduct a senior or honors research project under the direction of a faculty mentor.
Traditionally, many physics undergraduates continue on to graduate school in pursuit of Ph.D. degrees in physics or related sciences. Physics majors may also enter a variety of other fields, including archaeology, astronomy, biology, mathematics, computer science, high school teaching, law, medicine, environmental sciences, operations research, technical sales, industrial management, engineering and oceanography.
