Application Process & Dates

Students enrolled at other colleges and universities and students who have already completed their undergraduate coursework can apply to the Program in Material Culture & Public History for Visiting Students by submitting their completed Application for Visiting Students, transcripts of all college-level work, and at least one letter of recommendation to NIAHD.

Students who claim Virginia residency for tuition purposes must also complete an Application to Determine Physical Residency/In-State Tuition from the Registrar's Office. That form should be included along with the program application packet. These instructions apply to ALL students who wish to be considered for Virginia in-state tuition no matter what their status at their home institution may be.

Dependent students applying for financial assistance for W&M tuition should complete the Financial Assistance form and return it to the NIAHD Director with their parents' U.S. federal tax returns for the current year. Students who file a U.S. federal tax return as independent adults should complete the Financial Aid Application form and submit a copy of their U.S. federal tax return. Students may contact NIAHD's Director for additional information.
