History 408: NIAHD Internship in Public History

Standard File

Students can take History 408: NIAHD Internship in Public History during either the Fall Semester or the Spring Semester each academic year. There are two parts to this course: first, class meetings that include readings and discussions about Public History; and second, an internship (10 to 12 hours per week) at a museum or historic site.

Internships give students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Public History. Students will work with NIAHD's Director to define their internship goals, identify a supervisor, and complete their application materials. It is possible for students to complete internship hours during the summer and to have year-long internships if they make arrangements with NIAHD staff.
