WHRO: Music from William & Mary on ‘A Local Touch’

Several William & Mary musicians will be featured on A Local Touch, a three hour program highlighting music with a Virginia connection.

"We begin the evening with a nod to violinist Emil Chudnovsky, who performed as soloist with the William & Mary Symphony Orchestra last spring. Here Chudnovsky brings us Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor with the Hillel Hebrew University Orchestra. A cornerstone of the violin repertoire, the concerto remains one of the most beloved works for the instrument.

For the rest of the opening hour, we’ll enjoy recordings from the College of William & Mary’s student ensembles. Under the direction of Professor David Grandis, the William & Mary Symphony Orchestra plays 'Le Roman de Tristan' by French composer Paul Ladmirault, from a concert they gave last fall. Then, the Choir of the College of William & Mary led by James Armstrong presents Michael Haydn’s graceful 'Ave, Regina Coelorum'."
