As world leaders convene in New York City for the 80th United Nations General Assembly to address the most pressing issues of our time, a William & Mary faculty member was present to lend her expertise.

Carrie Dolan, associate professor of health sciences, spoke at a high-level event on Sept. 25 called, A Legacy of Healing: 25 Years of Impact, hosted by World Pediatrics in collaboration with the government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. She joined a panel of speakers that included Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, World Pediatrics Project CEO Vafa Akhavan, and Dr. Donna D. Brown, a pediatric ophthalmologist and global health leader.

During the event, Dolan shared her evidence-based research on the economic impact of pediatric surgery and discussed how data-driven approaches can strengthen global health equity. At William & Mary, she is part of Ignite, a multidisciplinary research lab housed in the Global Research Institute and in partnership with the Department of Health Sciences. Her research focuses on the effective and efficient distribution of global health resources, with an emphasis on women and children.
