Background

Frederick Corney received his PhD from Columbia University. He specializes in the history of Russia, specifically in the revolutionary period through the 1920s. He is especially interested in historiographic and cultural issues, notably historical memory, and Soviet film. His book, Telling October. Memory and the Making of the Bolshevik Revolution is published by Cornell University Press. A translated, introduced, and edited volume, Trotsky's Challenge: The 'Literary Discussion' and the Fight for the Bolshevik Revolution, has appeared with Brill Publishers. He is currently working on a broad study of historical memory in modern Russia.
