Working While Walking

Dr. Heideman and his treadmill

One biology professor has found a way to keep moving on the job. Dr. Paul Heideman recently installed a treadmill in his office to walk while he works. He was motivated by his physician (who threatened to put him on blood pressure medicine), and because he wanted to relieve tension and sore muscles from sitting all day.

Dr. Heideman enjoying sabbaticalCurrently on sabbatical, Dr. Heideman walks for about two to three  hours each day. A comfortable pace for him is one mile per hour.

Although it is a recent switch, he’s already benefited through an increase in productivity. He loves his treadmill workstation and sees no need to stop moving forward. Drop by his office (Millington 202) and check it out!
