Cellular Wi-Fi Network
You may have seen a network named “Cellular” listed as one of the Wi-Fi options on your phone or other devices. W&M has recently adopted a service called “Passpoint” - which we named "Cellular" at W&M. Passpoint automatically connects campus visitors to join an encrypted guest network using cellular credentials. Currently only AT&T and T-Mobile participate in Passpoint.
After extensive testing in visitor hotspots, Passpoint (aka Cellular) is now available throughout campus in all locations with our upgraded wireless AP’s - which is almost everywhere.
Visitors with AT&T and T-MobileVisitors with either of these services will automatically connect to William & Mary’s guest Wi-Fi network for data. You can also place calls over our wireless network if you have "Wi-Fi Calling" enabled in your phone settings. |
Visitors with Verizon and other cellular servicesYou can still use our guest Wi-Fi network (WM-Welcome) by going to connect.wm.edu and registering for 48 hours of access. |
W&M Faculty, Staff, and Students“Cellular” is only intended for visitors to the university. Faculty, staff, and students should instead use the encrypted eduroam network. |
To boost cellular service
As actual cellular service on campus can be spotty, W&M IT recommends turning on "Wi-Fi Calling" in your phone settings to leverage the Wi-Fi system for phone calls while in buildings.
