Pitch Practice

Practice makes perfect!

Overview

Welcome to Pitch Practice!

This program encourages experimentation with diverse pitch formats including research-driven, social impact, and creative ideas, making the pitching ecosystem more reflective of the full spectrum of student innovation. Participants have the option to submit a practice pitch video for feedback from our Mentor Network and Hub Team.

Focus on the key aspects of a successful Pitch: Problem, Market, Competitive Landscape, and Solution. Learn more below about what makes a "good" pitch:

Aspects of a Good Pitch

  • Problem:
    • Ventures exist to solve real problems. Share a problem or opportunity that matters, whether it's personal, based on feedback, or addressing a larger issue.
  • Market:
    • Identify an attractive market. Share market statistics, such as affected population, transaction volumes, and market trends. Highlight the potential for growth.
  • Competitive Landscape:
    • Acknowledge competitors and explain what their solutions lack. Showcase how addressing these gaps is not just beneficial for customers but also a unique opportunity for your venture.
  • Solution:
    • Build upon the foundation and reveal what you're creating. If there's progress, share the evolution and what's coming next. A clever name, though not mandatory, can add a touch of flair.
  • Delivery:
    • A compelling pitch is not just about content, it’s about how you present it. Engage your audience with confidence, clarity, and energy. Maintain eye contact, use a strong voice, and incorporate natural gestures. Your delivery should reinforce the impact of your idea and leave a lasting impression.
