Mission

The Department of Theatre & Performance integrates theory and practice in theatre, dance, and performance studies to form scholar-artists who build collaborative communities, pursue interdisciplinary research, and learn by doing. Through the performing arts' distinctive ways of seeing, questioning, and engaging others, we reimagine the arts’ role in society and prepare students to navigate complex professional landscapes – working both within and outside the arts - in theatre, dance, and beyond – as creative, collaborative, and socially conscientious global citizens.
