Background

kennedyAlan Kennedy is assistant teaching professor of public policy at William & Mary. Prof. Kennedy earned his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Denver School of Public Affairs, M.A. from William & Mary, J.D. from William & Mary Law School, and B.A. from Yale University. An attorney, Prof. Kennedy currently serves in the United States Army Reserve as a judge advocate general. He was a presidential elector in 2020 and 2024. Prof. Kennedy is an expert on gun policy, free speech, civil rights, and federalism. His gun policy dissertation received multiple awards from the University of Colorado Denver. Prof. Kennedy’s national awards include the Public Integrity Award and a Founders’ Fellowship from the American Society for Public Administration, and the Top 40 Young Lawyers award from the American Bar Association.
