Japanese Studies & Psychology
Coming to W&M, I knew that I wanted to major in Japanese Studies. One of my passions is Japanese literature in translation, so my favorite class that I took was Professor Cronin’s Classical Japanese Literature course. It has also provided direction and inspiration for my capstone, and I’m glad I have the opportunity to investigate my topic with the background learned from J-Studies courses.
Although I ended up not being able to study abroad in Japan, I was still able to experience J-House events and even led some of them myself! I learned valuable lessons about Japanese culture thanks to the J-House fellow, Moeno. She has helped me so much with planning events and my language journey, especially when I lived in J-House. Even though my language skills are still developing, I couldn’t have gotten this far without Professor Kitamura’s help, which I am very grateful for. Overall, I hope to continue learning Japanese post-graduation and travel once more to Japan.
