Hispanic Studies
I am graduating with a B.A. in Hispanic Studies and a minor in Linguistics. I love to see how everything connects when my classes overlap topics! I originally planned to double major, but I instead chose to graduate a year early and make linguistics aminor. I am way too over involved on campus as the Co-Librarian of the Botetourt Chamber Singers, the Co-President of the American Sign Language Club, the 2nd Vice President (formerly Media Director) of Delta Tau Omicron, and the Banquet Chair and Co-Recording Chair of the Christopher Wren Singers.
I have also lived in the Hispanic House this year which has been fun. The events frequently conflict with my other commitments, but I always enjoy the ones that I can make it to. One of my favorite parts of living in the Global Language Villages that I get to hear all kinds of languages being spoken in the lounge. A specific Hispanic Studies memory that will stick with me forever is my opportunity to study abroad in Cádiz, Spain last summer. I could go on singing its praises forever, but I will just say that it has definitely prepared me to face the unknown with a little less fear. After graduation, I will be joining the School of Education at William & Mary for an M.A.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction with a Concentration in ESL/Bilingual Education. Whether I will teach ESL, teach Spanish in an English-speaking community, teach English in a Spanish-speaking community, or some secret other option is still up in the air, but I know this program will support me through it no matter what.
