Italian Studies & Economics
Having grown up in an Italian-American family with a grandfather who was born and raised in Italy, I began taking Italian classes at William & Mary to learn the language and more about the culture. I was fortunate to have amazing professors and a great study abroad experience in Florence, which led me to initially declare a minor in Italian. Through attending the engaging Italian house events and taking cultural electives, I began to consider how I could further enhance my Italian knowledge at William & Mary. This led me to add a second major and create a self-designed Interdisciplinary Studies major with a concentration in Italian Studies. I am extremely thankful to Professor Ferrarese, the rest of the Italian department, and the Dean’s Office for their guidance throughout this experience. I hope to continue broadening my knowledge of the Italian language and culture with further travel in Italy and perhaps finding a job that would incorporate my knowledge from both of my majors - economics and Italian.
