Hispanic Studies & English
I have truly cherished my time in the Hispanic Studies department. Through thought-provoking classes, dedicated professors, and immersive cultural experiences, I’ve deepened not only my language skills but also my understanding of the diverse histories, literatures, and identities that make up the Spanish-speaking world. The passion, dedication, and thoughtfulness of my professors has sustained a close-knit community of which I am so grateful to be a part. I especially value my advisor Jorge Terukina, who has always supported me through challenges. I’m incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to study abroad in Spain twice—first in Cádiz with Professor Cate, and later in Salamanca through a third party. Living and learning in Spain brought language and culture to life in ways I’ll never forget.
Some of my most meaningful memories come from connecting with classmates and professors who share my passion for language and cultural exchange. I hope to continue building on this foundation, whether through teaching abroad, translation, or diplomatic work. I will carry with me a deep appreciation for the power of communication and storytelling across cultures.
