Hispanic Studies & International Relations
My experiences with the Hispanic Studies department are some of my best memories from William & Mary. The faculty are all incredibly caring; my advisor, Professor Cate, has been especially helpful and supportive as an educator and mentor; and all my classmates have been so passionate about learning and engaging with our course materials, which has made every class enjoyable and meaningful. Besides taking classes in the department, I also had the opportunity to study abroad in Sevilla, Spain for a semester, and I had an amazing time deepening my knowledge of Spanish language and culture. Additionally, my final semester at William & Mary, I got to serve as a TA for HISP 203, and I loved watching the students grow so much in their language ability in about fifteen short weeks. This fall, I will begin law school with the intention of eventually working in immigration law, a career I may not have even considered without the influence of the Hispanic Studies department. Overall, I am incredibly grateful for all the Modern Languages students and faculty for providing me with a supportive, engaging learning environment for the past four years, and I would highly recommend taking as many Hispanic Studies classes as you can!!
