Claire Selner

    Majoring in French was one of the best decisions I made in my time at W&M! Studying French here has not only improved my language skills but also given me the opportunity to learn about different perspectives and cultures. Throughout my four years with this program, my classes have taught me critical thinking, the importance of art and literature, and deepened my appreciation for the humanities. Some of my favorite memories were made during my summer study abroad trip to Montpellier. The experience brought me so many meaningful connections and pushed me outside of my comfort zone. We also got to visit a lot of cool places and eat delicious food! 

   After graduation, I plan on taking a gap year to work and apply to master’s programs in Speech Language Pathology! More than anything, I’m so appreciative of all my French professors who have offered so much time and dedication to my French learning experience. While I’ll miss my time as a French major, I’m grateful for the lessons, perspectives, and friendships that will stay with me long after graduation!
