Amy Hogg

French & Francophone Studies & Finance

Bonjour, my name is Amy Hogg and I am a double major in Finance and in French & Francophone studies.

I am beyond excited to be able to say that I will be graduating with a degree in French. My experiences studying under the Modern Languages Department have consistently been high points throughout my four years at the college. One highlight during my tenure as a French & Francophone studies major was the Revolution course taught by Professor Pacini. I loved the content of the course, and I have never felt so informed about a particular period in history before. I also found many great friends in the class, often grabbing lunch with peers after group assignments. My positive experiences in French courses ultimately inspired me to study abroad in Paris the January of my Junior year. In Paris, I spent several weeks living near the 20e arrondissement where I tested my French speaking abilities on a daily basis amongst native speakers. I made some lifelong friends on the trip, and I am eager to return to Paris soon!

Although the last few semesters have been spent running between Washington Hall and Miller Hall, I wouldn't have it any other way. I am proud that I'll be leaving William & Mary as a well-rounded individual and professional thanks to the overall cultural awareness and appreciation that comes with studying a language. I can't thank the French & Francophone Studies faculty enough.

After graduating, I plan to work in Asset Management in the Richmond area. I hope to pursue opportunities abroad in the near future.
