Maeve Donahue

French & Francophone Studies & International Studies

Hi! My name is Maeve Donahue and I am senior majoring in French & Francophone Studies and International Relations. In the summer of 2023, I studied abroad in Montpellier, France, where I did an independent research project on anti-discrimination efforts in the city. That experience inspired my senior honors thesis, which looks at anti-racist mobilization in Montpellier and Béziers. Thanks to a grant from the Charles Center, I was able to head back to France during the Summer of 2024 to conduct more research. In addition, I have been a TA for beginner and intermediate French classes for two years and have served as the French social media specialist for one year.

I’ve made so many great memories with the French department but studying abroad in Montpellier was definitely a highlight. One of my favorite moments was visiting Aigues-Morte and getting to explore the city, learning about its rich history. and learn about its history was such a cool experience. After graduation, I hope to build a career in international development. I’m so grateful for everything I’ve learned and experienced during my time at W&M!
