Chinese Studies & Linguistics

Studying Chinese has been an important part of my life for a long time, and I m forever grateful to the amazing professors in the modern languages department at William & Mary for helping me grow immensely in my understanding of Chinese language and culture.  I always felt that my professors were passionate about the topics  they taught and cared about both my academic and personal wellbeing.  I was also fortunate enough to live in the Chinese House for one semester, where I had the opportunity to practice conversational Chinese with new and old friends during cultural events.  Additionally, the highlight of my college years has been studying abroad in Singapore over my Junior Spring.  Over the course of my exchange, I developed strong cross-cultural friendships and learned so much about Southeast Asia in my courses and travels.  Although I will be pursuing work in education in the future, I consider learning Chinese to be a life-long journey and will continue to connect with others over Chinese culture.
