While as an incoming freshman I wouldn’t have envisioned myself involved in either program, I ended up spending – and enjoying – much of my time at W&M with German and Chinese Studies. My best memory was definitely the summer study abroad program in Berlin, whereby I got to have hours-long conversations with my local host family and visit fantastic museums around the city. But even on an everyday basis, the wide variety of German House activities have always been a source of joy for me. I am grateful that I always feel welcome here in Washington Hall, and I am especially obliged to Professor Hill and Professor Gülly, who have supported me throughout my academic journey here, but also beyond that. While I haven’t finalized my postgraduation plan yet, my experiences here assured me that Germany will be the destination of my next adventure.
