Ian Cowley

My experience in the William and Mary Modern Languages program has been one of the greatest things I’ll take away from my time here. My connections and relationships with professors helped me to develop as a student and a citizen, and their classes have expanded my perception and understanding of the world and other cultures. My time in Taiwan as part of the William and Mary summer semester abroad was an incredible experience that I’ll never forget and that will continue to positively impact me for the rest of my life. Choosing to study Chinese and pick it as a Major was the best decision I made at William and Mary.

In the future, I hope my experience here will keep driving me to improve my language skills and cultural understanding and help me when it comes to looking for a job in the future. While I’m going into the US Army immediately after graduation, I’d like to keep practicing and work with the language once I get out.
