Hispanic Studies & Environmental Studies

I have spent 4 years in Washington Hall as a Hispanic Studies major and have never regretted one second. In my time in the department, I have focused on Indigenous cultures and decolonization in Latin America. Paired with my secondary major in Environmental Science, I plan to pursue environmental and climate justice in my career. Following graduation, I will be interning in D.C. as a GIS water quality analyst (a special shoutout to my major advisor, Carlos Rivera Santana, who, despite his limited scientific knowledge, always seeks opportunities for me to forward my career). I will never forget the remarkable professors and peers of HISP, for their unwavering support and encouraging me to think independently. Every semester, in every class, my world expanded tenfold; now, I feel well equipped to face it. I know that the relationships I have built with Modern Languages, both professional and personal, will stick with me and impact me for time immeasurable.
