Charlotte Walters
German Studies & Environmental Policy
My name is Charlotte Walters, and I am from Charlottesville, VA graduating with a double major in Environmental Policy and German Studies. My W&M experience began with Professor Taylor's children's literature class on zoom in fall of 2020 where I realized how fun and supportive the German program was. The German program challenged me to think critically and use my brain in ways I don't in my other classes. I am thankful for the passionate professors who have shown me the value of language learning and for the many hours spent in Washington Hall over 4 years. With the support of the German program, I spent the summer after my sophomore year interning at an environmental studies research institute in Munich, Germany. This allowed me to combine my two areas of study and see the world in new ways! After graduation I will spend the next year in Germany teaching English on a Fulbright grant. I hope to share the excitement and curiosity about the world that I have gained from my German professors and teachers over the years! From there, I plan to return to the U.S. and enter a career in environmental policy! TheGerman program has been an integral part of my time at William & Mary and has gotten me to where I am today!
