Susannah Matthews

   The four years I have spent taking Chinese language and culture classes completely shaped and enriched my college experience at W&M. The support and encouragement I received from my professors and peers in the Chinese program motivated me to constantly push myself academically and have shaped me into the person I am today. One of the most transformative experiences during my time in college was studying abroad in Taiwan last summer. This immersive experience was completely eye-opening and brought me new friends and new knowledge that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Some of my favorite college memories come from my study abroad experience. I am so grateful for Professor Wilcox, Su Laoshi, Professor Hui, and Lin Laoshi who were all incredible instructors and mentors that I had the privilege of learning from. Their guidance extended well beyond the classroom, and I am so appreciative of their invaluable support. I look forward to whatever lies ahead in the future, knowing that I will be prepared thanks to this department and this university.
