Laila Hamer

    I had originally started taking Chinese courses my freshman year to fulfill the language requirement, but even after achieving the proficiency, I wanted to continue.  The classes were my favorite part of the week, and I really enjoyed both the professors and the friends I had made, so much so that I chose to major in it.  Studying abroad in Taiwan was one of the biggest highlights for me.  Being able to travel around and utilize the language skills I had been building up for the past three years was a very fulfilling experience.  Additionally, I was able to make lifelong friends and learn a lot more about the culture and language.  I am very grateful for the program and all that it has given me.
