Collin Absher
Chinese Studies & Asian Pacific Islander American Studies
Collin Absher is a Senior at William & Mary majoring in Chinese Studies and Asian Pacific Islander American Studies. During his time at the College, he never expected to find this unique path in study and research. Originally a pre-med student, Mandarin language classes gave him a new direction and allowed valuable opportunities he never imagined. Collin has had the opportunity to work abroad in the Philippines and study in Taiwan for nearly a year through fellowships he received through guidance with his Chinese Studies Professors. Through this journey, he was able to pick up some other languages. Beyond language, he found himself enamored by literature, prose, and poetry... albeit its difficulty. His favorite memory from his last four years were the little cookouts at Professor Hill's house at the end of the year to celebrate the program and the students' accomplishments. Collin is looking forward to work in advocacy or policy think tanks after he graduates.
