Leisa Meyer Wins Inaugural Arts & Sciences Award for Faculty Governance

Leisa Meyer, Class of 1964 Distinguished Associate Professor of History and of American Studies, has won an inaugural Arts & Sciences Award for Faculty Governance.  This award honors faculty members in Arts & Sciences who devote extraordinary effort to helping colleagues through committee membership and other service at the Department, Program, Arts & Sciences, and College Level.

 

Leisa has served two terms as Director of Women's Studies; she currently serves as Associate Chair and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of History, and as a member of the Provost's Planning and Steering Committee.  She has served on the Faculty Assembly and Chaired the Faculty Affairs Subcommittee, as Ombudsperson for the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, and as a freshman advisor for eleven straight years between 1995 and 2006.  Leisa has also coached Women's Rugby.

 

At the national level, Leisa has served on the Governing Board of the American Historical Association's Committee on Gay and Lesbian History, and currently she is co-Chair of the American Historical Association's taskforce on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer History/Historians.
