Two Ph.D. Alumni receive NSF CAREER awards

Collin The department of computer science is very proud to announce that two of our PhD alumni received NSF CAREER awards in 2015.

Collin McMillan (Ph.D. 2012, advisor: Poshyvanyk), assistant professor of computer science at Notre Dame, received the National Science Foundation's Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award

Dr. McMillan's work targets the “concept assignment problem” in program comprehension – the process through which software programmers understand and modify the behavior of software systems, and in particular the role of software documentation in this process.

Ningfang Ningfang Mi (Ph.D. 2009, advisor: Smirni), assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at Northeastern University, received the National Science Foundation's Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award.

Dr. Mi's work focuses on developing innovative techniques and algorithms to build adequate system models and support performance and reliability analysis in order to better explain large system behavior, predict application performance, and ensure high resource efficiency and system dependability. Ninfang was also awarded in 2014 the Air Force Young investigator award.

Ningfang and Collin, you make us very proud! Congratulations!
