Beto O'Rourke Visits W&M
Beto Trinkle Hall On April 16th, 2020 Presidential Candidate Beto O'Rourke visited William & Mary campus to speak to the community about his vision for America

2020 Presidential Candidate Beto O’Rourke visited William & Mary Tuesday the 16th of April. Trinkle Hall was packed with students and members of the Williamsburg community to hear O’Rourke speak about his vision for America.
The stop at William & Mary was the second one for Beto in a long series of town hall style meet and greets across Virginia between the candidate and the American people. O’Rourke’s campaign is also the first of the many democratic candidates to visit the Commonwealth.
O’Rourke spoke about fixing the immigration system, lowering incarceration, expanding health care, and combating climate change. Over 500 people attended the event, organized by the William & Mary Young Democrats, a student run club on campus.
“Meeting Beto was an absolutely incredible experience! He’s so kind and thoughtful with his answers to every question,” said Cody Mills ‘20, the president of the WM Young Democrats. “Organizing the event was incredibly hectic and we had to correspond with several different individuals/parts of his campaign/the administration to ensure that this event would run smoothly. His actual arrival was so exciting and getting to meet him was one of my favorite memories since I’ve arrived on this campus!”
O’Rourke ended the meet and greet with several questions from the audience and took time for photos with every student who wanted one. He then continued on the campaign trail to Richmond and the rest of Virginia.
