Woody Internship in Early Childhood Music Education
Interested in honing your music education skills?
Earn $1,000 per semester while receiving training and mentorship in early childhood music education!
Thanks to the vision and generous support of Dr. Carol and Mr. Robert Woody, and in partnership with Williamsburg's Early Childhood Music School (ECMS), this internship provides invaluable hands-on experience in music education, allowing students to work closely with ECMS staff, actively engage in class planning and activities, and share their passion for music with local public elementary school students during the academic year.

Eligibility
Applicant must be:
- a student in good academic standing.
- enrolled as a W&M undergraduate student and present on campus the entire academic year of the internship.
- a continuing undergraduate student (i.e., not a graduating senior).
- eligible to work in the United States on or before August 15 of the internship year.
Requirements
- Students must be available to participate in internship activities on a weekday morning (Tues.-Fri.) during fall and spring semesters of the internship year.
- Students must have reliable transportation available for classes in local public schools.
- Students are required to successfully complete two online Musikgarten certification trainings during the summer prior to beginning the internship.
- Students must be comfortable singing in front of a class.

The application for the Woody Music Internship in Early Childhood Music Education includes:

- You will be asked to enter the names of two references :
- One reference must be a faculty member who has taught you in class.
- A second reference may be a former supervisor, acquaintance, etc. who can speak to your ability to be successful in the internship.
- You will be asked to enter the names of two references :
- Cover Letter, addressed to the Charles Center, explaining the following:
- why you are interested in the early childhood music education internship
- the skill sets, academic preparation, and special interests or experiences you possess that qualify you for this internship
- why you consider yourself a good fit for this internship
- your personal qualities that make you a good match for this opportunity
- how this internship relates to your career and academic goals
- what you hope to gain from this experience

- To access your unofficial transcript, log in to Banner at banweb.wm.edu, navigate to the “Student” tab, select "Student Records" and then “Student Profile.” On the left-hand menu of your student profile, click “Unofficial William & Mary Academic Transcript.” Select “Undergraduate” and “Web Self-Service” on the drop-down boxes.
