MEET (Medical Experience and Engagement Talks)

Course Overview

MEET is a weekly virtual course that connects students with a diverse array of alumni and friends of the university. Each week, a guest speaker discusses their medical specialty and the academic preparation required to reach their current position.

Our guests include:

  • Early medical students and MD/PhD candidates.

  • Residents and esteemed physicians.

  • Biomedical researchers and professionals in unique healthcare fields.

Expectations & Participation

With guidance from W&M Biology faculty, students prepare for these conversations by reading assigned materials and submitting questions in advance.

  • Frequency: A new slate of guests is presented each Fall and Spring.

  • Credit: The course can be taken once for credit.

  • Class Size: Limited to approximately 30 students to ensure an engaging, discussion-based atmosphere.

Registration & Eligibility 

No application is required! Students can simply register during the normal course registration period.

Who should take this? This course is best suited for first- or second-year students who are deciding if a medical career is right for them and exploring which specific path to pursue.
