Professor Ma received her B.A. in Art History with Honors at William & Mary in 2017 and proceeded to earn an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of London in 2018 and 2024 respectively, specializing in Chinese handscrolls and illusionism under Emperor Yongzheng (r. 1723–35). In 2024-25, she taught at William & Mary as a visiting professor and in 2025-26 was a Teaching Fellow at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. She also served as Assistant Editor of Orientations magazine (Hong Kong) from 2022 to 2024. At William & Mary, she will teach courses on Asian art history.
