Celebrating the Life of Mary Beaudry '73
On Tuesday, October 20, the William & Mary Tribe and discipline of Anthropology lost an influential member, Mary Beaudry. Dr. Beaudry received her Bachelor's from William & Mary, with honors, in 1973. She joined the Boston University Anthropology Department in 1980, after receiving her PhD from Brown. Dr. Beaudry specialized in Historical Anthropology & Archaeology, working comparatively across spaces that included the Eastern U.S., Caribbean, and Europe. She crafted her research around questions of colonialism, industrialism, gender, and foodways. Dr. Beaudry's intellectual contributions will continue through the generations of scholars she trained and her artfully argued and written publications.
