Your timeline from now to arriving on campus

We know you're excited to start your William & Mary experience. This timeline will help you plan for important events, watch for additional communications from William & Mary and meet deadlines for everything from submitting your enrollment deposit to completing your housing/roommate survey.

A list of new student requirements is available on the Student Transition Engagement Programs website. In early May, a more detailed checklist of new student requirements will be available through the Tribe Guide.

While all students are initially admitted into W&M as undeclared (under the Arts & Sciences), three of our schools specifically require an additional application process. We encourage students interested in any of the following programs to reach out for additional information:
- Business: Contact the Raymond A. Mason School of Business at bba@mason.wm.edu for more information on their application process.
- Education: Contact the School of Education at graded@wm.edu or complete an application to the School of Education.
- Coastal & Marine Sciences: Contact Chris Wlosinski at cmwlosinski@vims.edu for more information on the application process.

May 1

At noon (ET), the online Tribe Guide launches for all enrolled students and their families from Student Transition Engagement Programs (STEP).

Apply for housing after submitting the transfer enrollment deposit. The housing application will become available if you wish to live on campus (please note: on-campus housing is not required or guaranteed for transfer students, but is welcomed). The deadline to apply for housing is May 31.

May 7

Transfer Welcome is a virtual (zoom) pre-orientation event from 6-7:30 pm (ET) to learn important details about the transfer experience. This optional event will include valuable resources for a successful transition into the William & Mary community. May 15

Deadline to submit the transfer enrollment deposit or waiver.

Beginning May 20

Enrolled students will receive more information about orientation, academic advising and meal plans. The online Tribe Guide includes information for all enrolled students and their families from Student Transition Engagement Programs.

June 1

Deadline to submit the College Report from your previous (most recent) institution. This form is required prior to enrollment.

Attend the on-campus Transfer Welcome Day. Learn more in the Tribe Guide Checklist and the Transfer Welcome Event page.

June 15

Ensure all official transcripts are sent to us reflecting final spring semester grades before this date (and, if applicable, any awarded associate degrees). These can be sent via an electronic service (such as Parchment or Clearinghouse), emailed to transfer@wm.edu, or mailed to:

Course registration will open in our PATH system for new incoming students.

August 21

Mandatory New Student Orientation begins on-campus and students finish registering for fall classes.

If you are receiving an associate degree over the summer, please send an updated official transcript reflecting your conferred degree as soon as possible. These can be sent via an electronic service (such as Parchment or Clearinghouse).
