Title II of the ADA
At William & Mary, digital accessibility is not a one-time project; it is an ongoing responsibility and a continuous process of learning, improving and evolving.
We know this work is complex. It spans classrooms, websites, administrative systems, procurement processes, and daily communications. We also know that meaningful change does not happen overnight. Our focus is steady progress—building knowledge, improving systems, and supporting our community as we move forward together.
In 2024, the U.S. Department of Justice issued updated regulations under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), clarifying expectations for digital accessibility at public institutions of higher education. These requirements apply to:
- Public-facing websites and web applications
- Learning management systems and instructional materials
- Administrative and enterprise systems
- Mobile applications and digital communications
- Third-party technologies used to deliver university services
