W&M Commencement Weekend

October 9-11, 2020

Formal Commencement exercises this year are merely postponed – we WILL come together on campus, in person to celebrate the Class of 2020, their resilience, and their many accomplishments. Mark your calendars now for the weekend of October 9-11, 2020. That will be the time for this year’s Commencement Weekend in Williamsburg.

We are also finding meaningful ways to celebrate the Class of 2020 this spring. Such celebrations will be joyful and different – they will not simply replicate online events to come in October.

October Celebrations

Graduates and their families will enjoy all the pomp and circumstance this ancient university has to offer, and they will take part in our most cherished traditions – ringing the Wren Bell, Candlelight, the Walk Across Campus, formal exercises in full regalia, and the personalized school/departmental ceremonies with their faculty. More details about October will follow from the Commencement Committee, but we want graduates to have the dates now in order to make plans for a fall return.

We look forward to welcoming our 2020 graduates back to campus to celebrate their achievements and the university's rich traditions. We will continue to fill in the details and communicate updates as they become available.
