On March 30, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam issued a “stay-at-home” order, running through June 10, 2020, in the light of national public health projections that COVID-19 cases in VA may peak in late May. It is clear that we must defer the planned ceremony on May 16. With a better understanding of the progress of the virus nationally, we will identify a time when we can convene such a sizable group without great risk to health. We will continue to assess possible timelines in consultation with local public health officials, closely tracking the Commonwealth’s and our nation’s response.
Until we identify the date, this website will provide general comprehensive information about Commencement. We will fill in the details and communicate updates as they become available and will continue to update our 2020 FAQs page.
We look forward to welcoming our 2020 graduates back to campus to celebrate their achievements and the university's rich traditions.
