Content Ownership
When the buck stops here
In Cascade, every piece of content – each asset, whether a file, image or page – has both a content owner and a review date. As an asset's review date approaches, Cascade notifies the content owner. For new content, the person who created the asset is its initial owner.
Find or Update the Owner
If you need to become the owner of an asset that someone else created, you may assign yourself as owner. If ownership needs to move to someone else besides you, either that person may self-assign ownership, or your Cascade Manager may reassign it to any editor of the Cascade Site.
To find the owner of an asset, follow these steps:
- Select the asset in Cascade to see it's preview, just as you would to edit or publish.
- Instead of selecting edit or publish, select Details along that same row of buttons.
- Within the Details popup pane, choose the second tab: Properties. It should look like this:

- The button next to Content Owner will display the username of the current owner, or the phrase Choose User when there is no owner.
- Select the Details button again to close this pane.
To change the owner of an asset, follow the steps above, but change the final step:
- Select the button next to Content Owner (the one showing the current owner or Choose User). Unless you're a Cascade Manager, you'll only see your own username in the chooser. Select your username then the Choose button to become the owner – or choose Cancel if you need more time to decide. Once you select either Choose or Cancel, the Details panel will close.
To reiterate from above: If ownership needs to move to someone else besides you, that person may self-assign ownership as explained above, or your Cascade Manager may reassign it to any editor of the Cascade Site.
