The Office of Research Compliance supports William & Mary’s research community by ensuring that all research activities meet applicable ethical, regulatory, and institutional requirements. Led by Alyson Wilson, Vice Provost of Research, and working closely with Amy Osbourne, SPARCS Cayuse Application Specialist in W&M IT, the office manages all aspects of research compliance, including human subjects research, animal research, biosafety, and the responsible conduct of research. The office serves as the university’s primary point of contact for reporting compliance matters to federal agencies, supports research compliance committees, oversees protocol tracking and record management, investigates and documents cases of noncompliance, ensures appropriate research approvals are in place, and provides required compliance training and guidance for faculty, staff, and students.
